Housing Continuum, Inc. was established in 1997 by Community Contacts, Inc. as a separate 501c3 corporation. This corporation, HCI, is a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) and has a separate board of directors, a third of which is composed of “target group” representatives.
The Housing Continuum mission is to make local housing more affordable for low and very low-income households. Because our two-county service area is not economically disadvantaged compared to other areas of Illinois, it is very difficult for low and very low-income individuals and families to find affordable housing. This difficult affordability issue is the main focus of HCI and its future programs and services.
