Housing Rehabilitation Program
The Housing Rehabilitation Program helps homeowners update their homes to make them safer, more comfortable, and compliant with local housing standards.
Community Contacts, Inc. began its first single-family owner-occupied rehab program in 1995. Since then, we have rehabilitated over 1,000 homes in Kane and Dekalb counties. Funding is from the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA), Kane County, and other local and state agencies.
Homeowners who meet income and home value qualifications may be eligible for a no-interest, deferred loan for the rehab work. In addition, grants are available to address lead-based hazards in homes. Up to $30,000 is generally available for homes.
Community Contacts, Inc. will:
- Assess the need
- Inspect the property
- Write the work order
- Bid the jobs
- Supervise the contractors
- Inspect the job sites
- Handle the paperwork
